What can an Educational Psychologist offer?
  An Educational Psychologist:
specialises in working with children, young people, their parents and carers. An Educational Psychologist has a sound theoretical knowledge of psychology and this underpins all work, be it in an educational, social or family context.
has expertise in all aspects of child development; cognitive, linguistic, sensory, physical, social, behavioural and emotional.
has expertise in the identification of children whose development is either delayed or disordered and can advise about appropriate intervention and provision within school and at home.
understands those factors that facilitate and enhance development and learning, and has knowledge and experience of how to achieve positive changes at home, at school and in other complex social settings.
understands how Nurseries, Schools and Colleges of Further Education work and understands how best to promote efficient and effective learning in those contexts.
understands the complex dynamics of family life and the impact that family life has upon each member of a family. Encouraging, facilitating and empowering families to support and value each other is an important aspect of work.
