I
can help identify whether
your concerns merit investigation
and assessment, or simply
reassurance.
Don’t
wait to contact me
until you are overwhelmed
by
a concern. A one hour
consultation in
the early stages of
a concern can prevent
many hours of work
and needless anxiety.
At the end of the majority
of initial sessions,
parents or teachers
express regret that
they had not sought
help much sooner. It
is for this reason
that I have created
my web-site; I hope
it will help you find
me sooner than you
might otherwise have
done.

 |
An
initial appointment will
generally be in my office,
but may be in your home
or your school. At this
first meeting, agreement
about the nature and extent
of my involvement will
be reached so that the
cost is made clear from
the outset |

Where
the focus of work begins
with an individual
child or young person,
consultation with parent(s),
teachers and other
professionals will
be valuable. |
 |
Individual
interview and/or assessment
of a child or young
person will generally
follow and this work
will be undertaken
first of all in a context
where the child or
young person is likely
to feel most comfortable.
Additional work may
be advised in the context
in which the concerns
are most prevalent. |
 |
Interventions
may remain at the individual
level or may comprise
work in school at a
group level and/or
work within the family. |
|
 |
|
 |
Intervention
may comprise tailor-made
individual or behavioural
programmes with guidance
to teachers about appropriate
teaching methods and resources,
target setting, monitoring
and evaluation arrangements.. |
|
 |
Intervention
may comprise work with
school and the Local
Authority to ensure
access to appropriate
provision. |
 |
Intervention
may comprise individual
or family therapeutic
work using a Solution
Focused Brief Therapy
or a Cognitive Behaviour
Therapy approach. |

Following
my work, you will be sent
a full report which details
your concerns, my assessment
findings, my conclusions
and my recommendations.
The recommendations section
will be at the end of the
report and will be prescriptive
and achievable. Where follow
up is advised, this will
be noted, together with
a suggested date for a
review of progress. |
