Ruth offers advice on educational provision and (if necessary) will support and guide families through an SEN Tribunal Hearing.

Since qualifying in 1981, I have undertaken extensive training in a number of specific areas which I find so commonly feature in my work; these areas include Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Anxiety and Trauma, Low Mood and Depression, Anger, Individual Therapy, Family Therapy, Child Protection and the preparation of reports for Court.

In 1982, as a result of my interest in specific literacy difficulties, I was invited to be the first consultant for the Newcastle Dyslexia Institute. I later became a Consultant for the Darlington Dyslexia Institute. Dyslexia and related difficulties remain an interest to me.

I worked as an Educational Psychologist attached to two Schools Psychological Services for twenty five years, before deciding to work independently.

My private practice, based in Hexham, Northumberland has grown very rapidly and as well as working with children, young people and adults throughout the north of England, I see families from throughout this country, Scotland and overseas and I have worked with families from as far away as Kuwait, Russia and Afghanistan.
